There were so many great families that applied for my call out and it was a hard …

10 Months | Baby’s First Year Project | Easter Bunny Assistant | Fotostudio 67117 Limburgerhof | Fotograf Mannheim Ludwigshafen Speyer

Baby S is 10 months old!
She is clapping!
She is starting to try to talk!
She looks like a cute little vampire because her two outer teeth have come in before the middle two teeth!
And when she is in a very good mood she will throw back her head and grin!
What a cutie pie!!

For her adventure this month, we decided on an Easter theme.
The Easter Rabbit needed a bit of help and she loved working as his assistant!

Making Of:
I knew I wanted to do something with a rabbit for the Easter theme.
I personally don’t own a rabbit and I could not think of anyone who I knew who owned one.
So I made a trip to the animal park and photographed lots of cute bunnies but after looking at my pictures at home,
I realized I wanted a field rabbit and not a cute little bunny to be the Easter Rabbit and I wanted the rabbit in a more natural setting.
Since I did not happen to have such pictures in my files, I did buy a stock photo for the background.
Once I had that, I sketched the other elements roughly so I knew how I wanted Baby S to pose for her part of the picture.
Since 10 month old babies are neither that great at following posing instructions nor do they like keeping rabbit ears on their heads,
I did have to take a couple of pictures having Baby S’s mommy help to get the important pieces together:
I wanted her pointing, I wanted rabbit ears on her head and I wanted her arm up as if she had it around the rabbit.
Knowing exactly how I wanted her meant that part of the shoot went very fast.
I had to use three pictures of her for the end picture but we had those three pictures shot in just a few minutes.
As usual, the most hours spent on this picture happened at my computer with putting the parts together to fit the sketch I had thought out.

Here are the main parts used to create the final picture:

Baby’s First Year: Five Months | Fotostudio 67117 Limburgerhof | Fotograf Mannheim Speyer Ludwigshafen

Baby S was in my studio yesterday again for her 5 month Development and Adventure session.
As each month goes by, I am again astonished at how fast babies grow!

She is on the go!!!!

No more sessions lying on the bean bag!
From now on we have to watch out to get shots of her before she moves out of the scene!
Ok, she isn’t leaving the scene fast (yet)
but she can roll!

I found it a bit hard to capture rolling in just one photograph to show her development this month,
so here are a couple of shots of her in action and in between rolls:

And since last month had quite an action filled adventure with flying through the fall skies,
we decided this month to have a more relaxed scene just enjoying the beautiful fall colors and sunset
with a warm cup of hot chocolate and a nice visit with her little sheep friend.

As usual, her adventure scene is a composite.
I couldn’t find a pumpkin large enough to actually carve into a pumpkin house for her! 😉

Here is a bit of a making of picture showing the straight out of camera shot of the pumpkin house scene
and of Baby S later in my studio with her mommy doing a fantastic job at modeling her part for the scene.

Baby’s First Year: Four Months | Fotostudio 67117 Limburgerhof | Fotograf Ludwigshafen Mannheim Speyer

We were a tiny bit late this month due to cold season
but Baby S made it to my studio yesterday full of smiling cuteness for her next adventure and development pictures!

It just amazes me to watch a baby grow.
I was amazed watching my own kids and I am amazed again each month when Baby S visits me!

Here are a couple of pictures showing her and her little sheep friend this month:

just take another look at those beautiful blue eyes!

And of course Baby S also had an exciting adventure this month!
With the beautiful windy fall weather, she decided she wanted to fly a kite.
To her amazement, the kite had plans as well and decided to take her for a flying adventure through the sunny skies!

The above picture is of course a composite.
I planned ahead of time what adventure Baby S would be having and prepared the set up.
First of all I used a wide angled lens (the Nikkor 14-24mm 2.8) outside to get some pictures of the kite and sky.
In order to keep the kite at the angle I wanted, I tied it to some light stands.
Here is a behind the scenes shot showing that set up:

The picture of Baby S was done in the studio with her mommy holding her and a soft bean bag under her “just in case”.
Here is the studio set up:

and in the end, I used 6 pictures to create the final composite:

As you can see, there is a lot of planning and setting up and then Photoshop work involved
to bring reality and fantasy together and to create just one picture!
And I LOVE doing this!!! 🙂

Bathtime Fun!

I love bathtub pictures.
I love the muted colors of the tub and the bubbles.
And I love how much fun a child can have with bubbles!
It makes a great moment to capture!

and yes, the above picture is edited quickly.
I take all my pictures in RAW format which means before I can even show them as a JPG,
I need to open them in a program which reads the RAW file such as Lightroom and do some basic processing.

Here is how the picture looked straight out of Lightroom (SOOL)
Nikon D800 with Nikkor 50mm 1.4G lens. Settings: f/3.5, SS 125, ISO 1600. Lighting: window to camera right

From there I didn’t do much more to the picture.
I used a Topaz Lens Effects filter called Creative Blur and adjusted the settings to my liking.

I wasn’t planning on doing a “photo shoot” with my son yesterday but looking at this picture again today,
I know I will be printing and hanging this moment to enjoy again and again!
And that is why I love my camera and love having the ability to take special pictures of everyday moments.
